Industrial Ovens & Process Heat Service

Great Northern Mechanical provides field troubleshooting and controls support for industrial ovens, process heaters, dryers, air make-up equipment, furnaces, and other burner-fired process systems. Service focuses on burner sequence, flame safeguard, temperature control, gas trains, interlocks, combustion, and controls modernization.

INDUSTRIAL OVENS & PROCESS HEAT

Process heat depends on the burner, temperature control, safeties, and airflow working as one system.

An industrial oven that will not reach setpoint, trips a high limit, loses flame, or runs with unstable combustion may involve the burner, gas train, actuator, airflow, thermocouple, temperature controller, interlock logic, or process condition. GNM is positioned to troubleshoot across those boundaries.

FIELD SERVICE CAPABILITIES

Burner, temperature-control, combustion, and safety-system support for process heat.

This page focuses on industrial burner-fired process equipment. Work includes flame-safeguard troubleshooting, temperature controls, process signals, gas trains, combustion tuning, safeties, and modernization. Residential heating and HVAC service is offered separately in selected Southern Michigan communities.

01

Industrial Oven Burner Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting ignition, pilot, main flame, flame signal, burner sequence, actuators, gas pressure, air proving, and flame-safeguard problems on industrial ovens and process equipment.

02

Temperature & Process Controls

Support for UDC temperature controllers, thermocouples, high limits, transmitters, 4–20 mA signals, setpoint/control issues, and related process instrumentation.

03

Combustion Tuning

O₂, CO, draft, stack or process temperature, gas pressure, and firing-rate evaluation to improve flame stability and verify combustion performance.

04

Gas Trains & Safety Interlocks

Troubleshooting regulators, valves, low/high gas switches, proof-of-closure, air switches, high limits, permissives, interlocks, and burner safety circuits.

05

Burner Controls Modernization

Modernization of flame safeguard, burner-management hardware, actuators, HMIs, operator interfaces, control panels, and obsolete process-heat controls.

06

Process-Heat Field Diagnostics

Field troubleshooting for dryers, process heaters, air make-up units, furnaces, and other burner-fired equipment where burner operation and process controls interact.

TROUBLESHOOTING FOCUS

A process-heat shutdown is often a controls problem, a combustion problem, or both.

GNM works through the burner sequence and process-control loop together: temperature input, setpoint, output signal, actuator position, gas pressure, airflow, flame signal, safeties, and combustion condition. That system-level approach is especially useful when the equipment runs but does not run correctly.

Common Industrial Oven & Process-Heat Calls

  • Oven or process heater will not reach or hold setpoint
  • High-limit trips while the operating controller reads lower
  • Thermocouple, RTD, transmitter, or temperature-signal disagreement
  • Burner lights but drops out during run
  • Flame scanner, flame rod, pilot, ignition, or main-flame problems
  • Gas-pressure, airflow, actuator, linkage, or interlock faults
  • Combustion instability, high CO, poor O₂, or draft problems
  • Legacy UDC, flame-safeguard, or burner controls ready for modernization

Process-Heat Equipment Supported

  • Industrial ovens and burner-fired process heaters
  • Dryers, furnaces, and air make-up equipment
  • Modulating gas burners and packaged burner systems
  • Temperature controllers, high limits, sensors, and process transmitters
  • Flame safeguard, burner management, gas trains, actuators, and interlocks
  • Control panels, HMIs, and process-signal troubleshooting

CONTROLS & PLATFORMS

Controls support for both burner-management and temperature-control systems.

Process heat often combines flame-safeguard controls with temperature and process controls. GNM supports the interaction between those systems, including UDC controllers, burner management, actuators, sensors, transmitters, interlocks, and panel wiring.
